For Release September 30, 2003
Audio, Audio and more Audio
Intuem 2, code-named Intuem Squared, delivers audio capabilities in an innovative and easy to use package for music and audio production. Our customers wanted audio to go with their MIDI and we're delivering the goods: Intuem will work with several types of audio; process audio using Apple Computer Inc's. AudioUnit standard on Mac OS X at a multitude of sample rates, all in high-resolution 32-bit floating point audio pathways; Intuem can save compositions as audio files; Intuem now has a with a full-featured, customisable audio & MIDI mixer; and the killer feature is the very flexible freeze facility with its key facet: one-step conversion of MIDI to audio.
Easy to Use, Professional Results
Besides all these additions, the real value of Intuem is it's ease-of-use--and that's something we've paid the most attention to so anyone can make pro-quality tracks without having to be a professional.
Why we call this release Intuem Squared: - Addition of audio capabilities and audio tracks with multiple-format audio clips from 8 bit mono to 32 bit, 96kHz, multi-channel audio. Can mix any format audio in a single track, no limit to the number of audio tracks in a composition.
- Compositions can be saved as audio files with many formats to choose from including: AIFF and AAC/MPEG-4.
- One-step conversion from MIDI to audio at single note, entire track and multi-track levels.
- Support for AudioUnit effects on audio tracks and access to audio unit interface panels with capability to change the order in which effects are applied to a track.
- Recording audio is kept as simple as recording MIDI: just record-enable a track while Intuem is playing and audio recording begins.
- Support for recording audio from any channel or set of channels from a device into a track. A track can send audio out to any channel or set of channels of any audio device.
- Tracks can be frozen as a new audio take or as a single audio clip.
- An integrated audio and MIDI Mixer with customisable controls and overwrite ability.
- Support for AudioUnit instruments as MIDI devices with interface in the mixer and via the AU's interface panels.
- Support for several types of audio for import and export, including: AIFF, CD Audio Tracks, MP3, AAC/MPEG-4, QuickTime, AVI and WAVE. No special setup or situation needed to open any of these audio files for use in Intuem as a track or to build an entire composition around.
- Enhanced the metronome so you can now have it count-in before recording.
- Built-in audio editing capabilities at the sample level to: amplify/normalise at the sample, clip and multi-clip relative level, fade in/out, reverse, silence and splice, all fully undoable/redoable.
- Support for arranging audio loops together at exact start and end frames so there's no gap at all between them.
- Quick short-cuts to export audio for advanced processing and then re-integrating with Intuem.
- Audio clips can be used as instrument samples and quantised for start time and have an optional quantise offset.
- Added option to clean MIDI files of wild notes and midi instructions to help make MIDI editing more straight-forward.
- Multi-channel audio clips can be split out into multiple mono clips and multiple mono clips can be spliced together into multi-channel clips.
- Can now set a template for the default new document setting number and type of tracks, names, display style, device, channel and initial program.
- Using QuickTime musical instruments or SoundFont/DLS instruments with Intuem is much more reliable than in Intuem 1.5 with Jaguar, no more hanging notes, and the timing is sample accurate.
- Optimised the Inspector so it's much faster and updated it to include audio settings.
- Scrubbing forward and backward can now be done via keyboard shortcuts so you can use them via Mac OS X controllers.
- Enhanced the Monitor to include audio input levels and in/out volume controls for audio devices.
- Enhanced controller data views to show value ranges at the right or left sides.
- Added preference to automatically hide all controllers when switching from one display style to another.
